traditional wood burner with non combustible mantle

Esse 100SE Multi Fuel Stove Installation, Chawton, Alton, Hampshire

FireBug remodelled this fireplace at a property in Chawton. The original was an inefficient open fire with brickwork surround. We removed this, relined the fireplace with a nice multi blend brickwork & fitted a non combustible mantle piece. The customers design required us to set the mantle piece in a position where an oak mantle would have been too close to the flue pipe. The solution for the was to install a non-combustible beam – you would be hard pressed to guess that this wasn’t actually a wooden beam.

The stove is a traditional styled Esse 100SE mutli fuel. A perfect stove for the wide opening. We sat this upon a large riven slate hearth. Although a hearth of this size is beyond the minimum requirements set out by the building regulations – a deep heath like this means that the stove door will stay over the hearth even when fully open. This prevents any ash dropping from the door onto the carpet.

We left the customer with a great way to heat their living room, which is clean, efficient and a great central feature for the room.
