We were asked to update this inglenook fireplace in a heritage property in Bentworth, near Alton, East Hampshire.
Firstly we removed a very old and inefficient wood burner and the existing chimney liner. The customer chose the very stylish Stovax Chesterfield wood burning stove as a replacement.
We decided to keep the original fireplace hood in situ as it was an original feature of the inglenook fireplace. A custom register plate was created to close the hood off from the room. We managed to replicate the rivets and slightly distress the finish to match the original fireplace hood.
The inglenook fireplace originally had an inadequate quarry tile hearth. It was decided to extend the hearth in a rustic brick work. This now provides the correct projection in front of the stove and matches in very well to the property.
This is a great example of how we can work with existing features to create something that looks as if it has always been there. Please get in touch if you have similar requirements for a new Woodburner, brick hearth or if you want to renovate your inglenook fireplace.
