cast iron wood burner in brick fireplace

ACR Oakdale Multi Fuel Stove, Alton, East Hampshire

The ACR Oakdale is a large cast iron multi fuel stove. This fireplace was almost ready to go. The original hearth needed to be replaced and there were one of two brick in the fireplace that needed replacing. The Chimney was swept and smoke tested. A stainless steel chimney liner fitted & cowl installed. We fitted a new hearth in riven slate and trimmed the skirting boards back appropriately. Finally it was a case of fitting the ACR Oakdale, testing and commissioning.

The addition of a mutli fuel stove to this victorian property has transformed the fireplace from a draughty inefficient heat source to a clean, warm and efficient room heater.

Double Sided Wood Burner, Weybourne, Farnham, Surrey.

FireBug was commissioned to fit a double sided wood burner, as part of the complete renovation of this customers house. The work involved sweeping, lining and capping the chimney, lime rendering the interior of the fireplace and plastering of the chimney breast. The stove is a traditional style double sided wood burner, the Hunter Hawk 4. The customer chose a light sandstone for the hearth to match the light coloured parquet flooring. Installing the double sided burner gave them a clean, renewable heat source in the living room as well as one in the kitchen diner.

Remodelled stone fireplace

Wood Burner with Remodelled Stone Fireplace Surround, Tongham , Surrey

FireBug were commissioned to remodel an existing stone fireplace surround and install a new wood burner. After sweeping and lining the chimney we have to remove the existing fireback and open up the fireplace. We then rebuild the fireplace with a larger opening to accommodate the new wood burner. The original marble hearth was broken, so we laid a new ceramic tile hearth. The Stove choice was a favourite of ours – the Chesney Salisbury 4 wood burning stove. This job highlights the fact that you don’t always need to take everything out and start afresh. Installing a wood burner into this customers living room has given them a clean and tidy way to heat the room.

Traditional Wood Burner, Guildford Installation , Surrey

FireBug was commissioned to update this existing fireplace in Guildford, Surrey. We swept, tested & lined the chimney. The chimney needed new pots and repointing. After this we capped the disused pots. There was a wooden lintel which had to be removed – we then used this for the floating mantlepiece. After all the building work was completed it was time to fit the stove. This customer was so taken with their stove that we need up installing a second stove in the next room.

Stovax Radiance Electric Inset Stove, Haslemere, Surrey

This Customer wanted to have a central focal point in the room but didn’t require the high heat output of a wood burning stove. Going for an electric appliance removes the need for a chimney to take away combustion gasses. There was already the back of another chimney protruding into the room – we decided to extend this chimney breast to contain the Stovax Radiance inset stove. This was constructed with stud work, plaster boarded and plastered. We fitted matching cornice and skirting board to finish it off. This type of appliance doesn’t require a hearth but once could have been fitted, in this case the customer didn’t want to encroach into the room any more so chose to leave the hearth off.
