Here we removed an old fire surround & opened the fireplace up to it’s original swept arch. The customer requested a log store area beneath the stove which you can see being constructed below. The customer wanted to retain some of their old fashioned decorative brickwork fireplace but to give it a bit of a facelift. There was a backboiler in place which needed to be removed. We then reinstated the brickwork and rendered the inside with a stop return to give it a sharper look. Some new pieces of honed slate to finish off the hearth & a black enamelled Dovre 250 multi fuel stove. This is one of those jobs that proves anything is possible. This is a false chimney breast built in the extension to the original house. We installed a Twinwall system from Poujoulat up through the house exiting through the roof. The fireplace was finished in lime render with a plastered front. A large riven slate hearth and Chesney’s Salisbury 5 wood burning stove were the perfect size for this room.
