Wood Burner Service and Maintenance
Wood burning stoves should be fully serviced once a year. This is often carried out when sweeping the chimney and would consist of cleaning and checking all parts of the appliance, a visual check of the chimney pot and flue terminal, smoke testing the log burner and replacement of any consumable parts.
The most common maintenance on wood burning stoves is replacement of the consumable parts which include firebricks, rope seals around the door or window and the replacement of old fire cement. Older stoves can require repairs to the hinges, door handles or replacement of the glass. Older stoves can also benefit from having the paint replenished, leaving even the oldest appliance looking like new.
We would always try to complete all servicing on site but sometimes we would need to take parts of the stove away for repair.
Normally most stove repairs could have been avoided with a little regular tlc. We will always give as much advice as possible on how to care for and maintain your appliance to avoid repairs at a later date.
